THE RESEARCH INSTITUTE FOR CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT AND TECHNOLOGY - ICECON S.A. continues a long scientific research tradition of more than 50 years in the field of construction products, machines, equipment, installations and technologies.

ICECON S.A. represents a new structural organization evolved from the former research institutes established in 1950, as the first Romanian research units in the construction field.

The theoretic and applied research activity in the field of construction started in 1950 when the first Construction Research Institute - I.C.C. was founded. This institute was organized on very specialized departments and test laboratories.

Starting with 1958 the institute activity expanded covering also the researches on construction material and its name was changed in Construction and Construction Materials Research and Design Institute – I.P.C.C.M.C.

Since the activity domain became too wide, in 1960 the institute was divided in two distinctive institutes, one totally dedicated to construction research: the Construction Research Institute – INCERC. This new institute was organized on three main departments: Construction, Construction Mechanization and Construction Economy.

In 1995 the Construction Mechanization Department separated from INCERC as an independent private company: THE RESEARCH INSTITUTE FOR CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT AND TECHNOLOGY - ICECON S.A

In 2000 ICECON S.A. was accepted as full partner member in the European Consortium of Construction Machinery Testing Bodies – EuroTest. As member of EuroTest, ICECON S.A. can issue EuroTest conformity assessment certificates, based on the harmonized European standards and Directives, for all the construction machines and equipment, which are recognized by European Union partners.
